Yay! I finally took the first step to physical exercise. I know it won’t be easy but I’ll do my best to make it to 55kgs. That’s my target. See, I am recently at 72 Kgs. How did I get here you ask? Here’s my journey.
I come from a family with big bodies. I have always admired the plump, girls and I always thought it was cool. My body, however, has been the opposite. I grew up having a tiny body, all the way. The bodies that always had you mistaken for an underage.
Since I joined adulthood (from 18 years, he he), I always wished to get at least to 60kgs, standard weight. Yes, I had been floating around 46-52Kgs for the longest time I could relate. After a few years down the line, I got pregnant. Pregnancy helped add weight but I never reached my goal. The highest I got was a 59.5kgs. Pretty close. After delivery, I went back to 55kgs and that had been a long journey until 2018.
2018 had been an interesting journey. In January I hit the 60kgs mark! Yeay for me but that wasn’t just it! After about 2 weeks I found myself at 65Kgs, I kept ballooning until I hit 80kgs in May-July, 2018. Of course, I was alarmed by the rate of the weight gain, and a nurse had advised me to shed off because my BMI read overweight.
I planned to be active, and eat healthily, but we all know, these are just plans, right. The only activity I took up was hiking (or rather I hiked once), cut down added sugars (Juices and soda) and started walking more. I am always the Nduthi-kinda person (Motorbike transport lover). We can agree it’s convenient, cheaper and faster. So taking up walking through my errands wasn’t an easy decision.
Fast forward to December, I visited the hospital again and I was advised to loose further 10 Kgs soonest. In December I was at 69 Kgs, so losing 10 Kgs would land me to 59kgs. With December, festivities, the joy of being around family and overeating, hehe brought me to 72 Kgs this January. (That’s forgivable I guess)
Before the jolly-eating season started, I had done some research, talked to friends and read more. I made some analysis of the changes I am willing to apply. The year 2019, will be a walk of patiently losing weight the correct and healthy way. The few changes I intend to apply was first, my feeding schedule, then a mode of exercise.
On feeding, I have gone brown in everything. I’ll put up posts to show how brown can be healthy and yummy! I always prefer jogging to walking but I haven’t found yet a better jogging track, instead, I have taken up walking. The intentional route is 4.4 Kms long, approximately 1-hour walk from Google predictions. (The route is by the roadside and rough so jogging is a bit tricky in the morning, without street lights) I also intend to go swimming. Swimming is a really engaging form of exercise and I totally love swimming. I am still thinking of going to the gym to do aerobics and cardio, but I’ll first start with the comfort of my home.
I did my first walk yesterday evening and it lasted me 2hours, 1 minute and 34 seconds. Tracked using the Google Fit App.
It gives much better reports on heart rate, calories, distance, steps, and pace. It better works with the watch that tracks your pulse rate. I don’t have the watch now but the app is giving me good service as a beginner. I’ll get the watch in due time.
Welcome to my weight loss journey and join me together to achieve our goals. We shall push ourselves one step at a time. If you have any ideas you want to share, or questions, feel free to hit the comment section below and air your views.
See you soon and let’s do it this 2019.
